| | | | Program Description | | | You are about to enter one of the most exciting stages of personal achievement.
Whether you are looking for a new challenge, excitement, a start to a career in aviation, or fulfilling a dream then obtaining a Private Pilot Licence can fulfill all of these. This package will inform you of the requirements and investment needed to attain your Private Pilot Licence.
What does my licence allow me to do?
Your Private Pilot Licence will allow you to fly cross-country during daylight hours when and where you want. On completion of your Private Pilot Licence you may choose to go to Monkey Mia to see the dolphins, or to Margaret River to sample what the South-West of the states has to offer or wherever you choose to fly.
| | | | Syllabus | | | Your training is divided into two parts.
Part 1 is your General Flying Training which will be completed in a Cessna 152 which is a 2 seat training aircraft.
This should take between 21-25 hours, during this phase you will learn all the basics of aircraft handling from take-off to landing and everything in between including standard and non standard procedures, emergency procedures and all the associated theory. The theory that you will cover will include aeroplane general knowledge, aerodynamics and rules of the air. On completion of this you will sit your Basic Aeronautical Knowledge (B.A.K.) exam.
After approximately 10 hours of dual flight training with an instructor you should be ready for your first solo flight. This is a flight that every pilot remembers. The remaining hours are completed as dual flying and solo flying. At the completion of this training you may take an optional test which is known as the General Flying Progress Test (G.F.P.T.). On completion of this test you will be able to take friends flying but you will be restricted to flying within a designated boundary that will be shown to you during your training. Alternatively you can continue straight into Part 2, your navigation training.
Part 2 is your Navigation Training which will be conducted in a Cessna 172 which is a 4 seat training aircraft. During your navigation training you will be taught both the theoretical and practical aspects of navigation in an aircraft. As in Part 1 of your training you will do both dual training and solo training.
The theory component of your training covers the following subjects:
Aircraft general knowledge and aerodynamics – Why and how an aircraft flies
Aeroplane performance and operation – How to calculate take-off and landing distances
Meteorology – How to interpret forecasts
Navigation – How to read maps
Flight rules and procedures – Rules of the air
Once you have completed the syllabus and have reached the required standard you will be recommended for the Private Pilot Licence flight test. Then when you are successful you will have a Private Pilot Licence and will be able to enjoy the freedom that your licence will bring you.
