PRIVATE PILOT LICENCE COURSE
This is the second and final step in becoming a recreational pilot and naturally follows on from the GFPT. On completion of the GFPT training course you will be able to fly the aircraft as pilot in command passengers (mum, dad and/or the kids). You will however be restricted to flying within the student pilot area limit, which extends from Jandakot south to Mandurah, and from the coast east as far as the hills.
The PPL navigation training course is designed to teach you how to accurately navigate around the countryside using recognised pilot techniques. Similar to the first course, you will complete a phase of theory and flying. The theory course covers several areas of subject matter, from aerodynamics to weather and navigation techniques. On completion or towards the end of the theory course we will start a series of navigation exercises designed to be quite simple at first, progressing to more difficult at the end. Each of the navigation sorties will last from 2.5hrs to 3.5hrs including landings at many country towns.
As part of the training you will also be exposed to flying operations in controlled airspace at Perth Airport and operate under conditions similar to the big jets. Training also covers normal and emergency procedures, diversion procedures and low level flight. All very exciting flying!
Just like our ab-initio training you will be fully briefed prior to each sortie and de-briefed on the conclusion of each. This will make your navigation training efficient and enjoyable, this is where the real challenge begins!
On completion of the training you will be the holder of an Australian Private Pilot's Licence which allows you to fly anywhere within Australia. At this stage it is also possible to continue on and complete a series of licence endorsements and ratings to vary the type of aircraft that you can fly and also to engage in aerobatic, formation and night flying, etc.
