Program Description
 Allows for employment in construction, repair and overhaul of aircraft components in both metals and composites. The work may involve the production of components, requiring specific drawing and calculation skills.
Skilled structural tradespersons, in particular, may be employed in the manufacturing of components from drawings for sheet metal, carbon-fibre or other composite materials used in the aerospace industry.

Upon the demonstration of competency in all units, students qualify for the trade qualification 'Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - Structures'.

Prerequisites
 The minimum entry requirements for each course currently offered at Aviation Australia is detailed in the applicable course brochure. Although not the only criteria for selection, higher academic attainment will be a definite advantage to applicants in the selection process.
Where some, but not all of the requirements are met, an application may still be submitted; however, consideration will only be given to such applicants where the numbers of applicants are low or where special circumstances exist.
Students should note that competition for positions in Aviation Australia courses can be high for some course intakes. Hence, meeting the minimum entry requirement will not always guarantee a place in the course. In these instances students are encouraged to re-apply for later course intakes.

International applicants must be 18 years of age on commencement of a course.

Students must meet academic and English entry requirements (see table below). Full documentary evidence in support of academic and English proficiency must be submitted with all enrolment applications.
Aviation Australia reserves the right to seek further documentary evidence where required. In addition, you must also satisfy student visa requirements set be the Australian Government.

Note: Australian visa requirements specify that the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) English language proficiency test is the only accepted means of demonstrating English proficiency. The minimum standard required is the IELTS - Academic, Overall Band Score 5.5 with no sub-band below 5.0.
