| | | | Program Description | | | The Bachelor of Science with Aviation degree offers you dual professional qualifications:
*a Bachelor of Science degree – with applications in government, research and scientific industries
*a Commercial Pilot Licence
The science component of the program provides the basic experimental, theoretical, computational and communication skills necessary for the practising scientist. It develops your appreciation of scientific studies in the wider technological and social context.
The aviation component involves aviation theory and practical training, including a Commercial Pilot Licence (theory and practical), Multi-Engine Command Instrument or Instructor Rating, and the theory components of the Airline Transport Pilot Licence.
Professional Recognition
As a graduate of this Program, you will receive a Commercial Pilot Licence. With a chemistry major you will also be eligible for membership of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute; with a physics major you will be eligible for membership of the Australian Institute of Physics. With a biological major you will be eligible for membership of the Australian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Australian Biotechnology Society and the Australian Society for Microbiology.
Career Outcomes
As a graduate, you will be qualified as a pilot and prepared for employment in general aviation, which involves charter work, flight instruction (theory and practical) and other aerial services such as agricultural spraying, aerial surveying and photography.
You will also be able to apply the science component of your degree as a practising scientist. Opportunities for employment exist in areas such as government departments, research laboratories and scientific industries.

NOTE: 60CP of specified credit is given for completion of the required aviation major of theory and practical flight training - giving a total of 240CP.

Students will be responsible for the payment of all relevant aviation tuition fees (approximately $12000 - $15000 per year over three years) directly to an approved aviation flying training provider. International students are required to pay the Student Service Charge and, for their first semester of study only, the Capital Development Contribution Charge in addition to the tuition fees. NOTE: 60CP of specified credit is given for completion of the required aviation major of theory and flight training at an approved flight provider, giving a total of 240CP.
